Vintage Plastic Eggs
Two very small matching plastic eggs from the 1940s. These are a very interesting set as they have 10 and 12 holes in the top for the Salt & Pepper, respectively, and no stoppers on the bottom - to refill, you separate the top 'egg' part of the design from the lower blue or green holder. The script on the front of the eggs can't be read very clearly in the photos below and we don't have access to inspect them more closely right now, but they seem to read "Ricordo - xxxio di Pompei".
We don't actally know where these came from, but my father was in Italy in World War II along with many of the other boys in the Hagerman, New Mexico military - and we suspect that either he brought them back for Grandmother, or one of the other boys did.
We promise to do a future update when we can reexamine the script.
